Schools, offices, clubs, groups, and even families can potentially have dress codes that you have to follow. So how do you as a modern man get around those dress codes to let your uniqueness shine through? The good news is that dressing stylishly and confidently is possible even with the strictest of dress codes – the trick is working yourself into the existing rules.
Shorts – it can be tough to wear shorts with style if you are limited in what type and style you are allowed to wear. To get around this rule, try wearing a unique and stylish belt, or buy shorts in unique fabrics (think corduroy, khaki or camo) in order to stand out from the crowd. Button downs – try wearing a fun buttonhole or adding manly and stylish buttons onto the shirt for a fun twist.
Shoes – shoes are fortunately the most fun and workable aspects of a dress code. Unless your work or school offers activities in which certain shoes can hurt you, it is likely that they will be the best aspect to play around with. Try adding bright colored shoe strings in your sneakers, or wearing classy flip flops in leather or woven fabrics.
Ties – One of the first things people will see in your uniform or outfit, ties can be tricky to get around in the dress code. Instead of fighting whether to wear them, however, look for extra skinny or wide ties in fun patterns and designs (usually as long as there’s nothing offensive, it will work) to find a unique look in your own personal style.

Prom is an extremely important time in any teenager’s life. While much attention is put on the girls who will be attending prom, it is just as stressful for the young men who will be attending. They too have to rush about trying to find a date, the right hairstyle, and the right outfit. Tuxedo styles change every year, and it can be stressful trying to find the perfect tuxedo, especially if you have a budget that you have to follow. Here are a couple of styles to give you an idea of what you can expect to find for prom in 2010.
If you have a limited budget, you can get a great looking basic tuxedo without breaking the bank. You’ll still look great, and no one will be able to tell by looking at you that you were following a budget. The basic tuxedo has a jacket that is single breasted with one button
and trousers that you will need to hem to fit your properly. Some stores may offer this service when you buy your tuxedo. Since more tuxedos are black, you’ll need a white button up shirt, either one with a wing collar or a lay down collar. You can choose whether or not to have a vest and these come in various materials. You will need a tie or bow tie, cummerbund, and cufflinks if you want a complete look. The basic tuxedo is a great classic that looks good on any guy and is timeless.
One of the hottest styles for prom 2010 is by designer Jean Yves. The white illusion tuxedo is a modern take on the tuxedo that will make you stand out from the crowd. It’s a bit more expensive than a regular tuxedo, but well worth the money if you can afford it. This tuxedo can be worn with white or black trousers which you will need to hem. The white jacket is a notch jacket with one button and has black satin trim under the lapel. You don’t have to wear cufflinks with this style, and you can easily wear either a traditional tie or a bow tie. The jacket has slanted besom pockets, is non-vented, and you can change the look by simply flipping the collar up.
